Conventional Emulsified Asphalt 

Rapid Setting Asphalt Emulsions for Chip and Sand Seal Coating
Examples: RS-2, CRS-2
Anionic and cationic rapid setting emulsions for Chip Seal (as specified by both AASHTO and ASTM)
HFRS-2
High Float rapid setting. The High Float indicates a special chemical agent has been used to improve the rheology and temperature susceptibility of the asphalt.

Medium Setting Asphalt Emulsions for mixing with aggregates, either cold or warm
Examples: MS-1, MS-2, CMS-2, CMS-2 modified
Medium setting asphalt emulsions for mixing with aggregate, either cold using a pugmill, or warm, in a conventional hot mix plant. Pugmill mixing may be done at the job site. The mixes may be laid both warm and cold. These emulsions are often used for base stabilization.
HFMS, HFE-300
High Float medium setting emulsions for mixing with aggregate, as above, but with the addition of the high float agent which improves the asphalt film thickness on the aggregate, and prevents drain-off of asphalt cement from the aggregate.

Slow Setting and Quick Setting Asphalt Emulsions, for a variety of industrial and road paving applications.
Examples: SS-1, SS-1h, CSS-1, CSS-1h, CQS-1h
These may be used as the base for products such as automobile undercoating or recreational surface coatings; for base stabilization; diluted for fog sealing or dust control; for conventional slurry seals.

 

Polymer Modified Asphalt Emulsions

The addition of viscoelastic polymer improves the ability of the asphalt to resist cracking, rutting, and fatigue damage. It also decreases the temperature susceptibility of the asphalt cement, and improves adhesion and cohesion.

Cationic rapid setting polymer modified emulsion for Chip Seal
HFRS-2P, HFRS-2M
High Float polymer modified rapid setting emulsion.
CRS-1P, RS-1P, LT-ST
Cationic and anionic polymer modified chip seal emulsions specially developed to be used at cooler temperatures than normally used for chip sealing. These are also used for night sealing.

Medium Setting Polymer Modified Asphalt Emulsions for mixing with aggregates either cold or warm
Examples: HFMS-2P, HFE-300S, HFMS-2SP
The combination of polymer and high float agent improves the asphalt film thickness on the aggregate, prevents asphalt drain-off, improves adhesion and cohesion. These emulsions have been very successful for stockpilable patch mixes for filling potholes.

Slow Setting Polymer Modified Asphalt Emulsions, for a variety of industrial and road paving applications .
Examples: SS-1P
Polymer is useful in products for driveway sealers, roofing products, etc. The polymer helps resist oxidative aging and petroleum products. These emulsions are used as tack coats and interlayers to improve adhesion of new asphalt cement concrete.

Quick Set Polymer Modified Asphalt Emulsions for Slurry Seal
Example: CQS-1HP
Polymer modified emulsions provide more durability than conventional unmodified slurry seal emulsions.

Micro-surfacing Emulsion
Examples: CQS-1hp, CSS-1hp, Ralumac® emulsion
The polymer modified emulsion specially developed for micro-surfacing allows rut filling, thicker surfacings, quicker release to traffic, and more durability than slurry seal emulsions.

 

Asphalt Emulsions for Recycling Aged Asphalt Pavements

Rejuvenating emulsions for bringing recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) back to life.
Examples: ReFlex® , Recycle Plus® , HFE-300RP, HFMS-2P emulsions
Specially developed chemicals are emulsified with asphalt and additives to be added to RAP for cold and hot recycling, both in-place (in recycling trains on the road) and off-site in a hot mix plant.

 

Polymer Modified Asphalt Cements for Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA)

Elastomer modified asphalt cements which improve the visco-elastic properties, temperature susceptibility, durability, adhesion and cohesion of the asphalt cement.

Examples: All SUPERPAVE PG Binder Grades, PMAC-20, MAC-20, MAC-10, AC-20R, MAC-20HD, PBA-6, AC-45P, AC-30P, etc.
The modification allows asphalts to meet performance-based specifications, such as those developed by SHRP (Strategic Highway Research Program).
