RoadArmor®

The RoadArmor system is a single pass surface treatment developed for cost-effective pavement preservation. It is suitable for use on low to high traffic volume roads in good condition but with minor surface distresses.

Some surface treatments have not always given the expected performance. Problems can occur because of the complexity of controlling the multitude of variables (materials, equipment, site selection, surface preparation, weather, traffic control, operator training, etc.)

By combining several processes, the RoadArmor system removes many of those variables, resulting in a much more reliable performance. SemMaterials' technology makes the RoadArmor system one more tool we can use to achieve the goal of pavement preservation—applying the right treatment, on the right project, at the right time.

The RoadArmor solution includes site selection guidelines, surface preparation guidelines, and performance specifications.
RoadArmor construction is a one-pass, continuous system.

Ultra-fast setting polymer modified asphalt emulsion

  • Continuous synchronized application process
  • Single sized gradation aggregate
  • Performance-Related Specifications

RoadArmor Advantages:

  • Quick traffic return
  • Reliable process for reliable durability
  • Designed for low risk of vehicle damage

Lower user delays

  • Continuous, one-pass system moves quickly
  • The very rapid breaking emulsion chemistry allows sweeping and traffic return within about an hour or so

Suitable for high volume traffic roads

  • High performance polymer modified asphalt emulsion firmly holds the aggregate in place
  • High quality aggregates withstand heavy traffic
  • Single size aggregate reduces noise levels

Protects surface

  • Pavement preservation application seals and waterproofs the existing surface
  • High performance aggregates restore macro-texture

Cost-effective

  • Costs less than other surface treatments used on high traffic volume roads
  • Preventive maintenance application saves future rehabilitation costs

Reliable, consistent quality

  • Performance specifications for early bonding strength of aggregate and binder
  • Site selection requirements for application on the right pavements
  • Emulsion formulated for the RoadArmor process for reliable curing
  • Tight specifications for materials, equipment and performance
  • Continuous, single pass system leaves fewer chances for errors
  • Surface treatment design and technical support by SemMaterials
